How can Yoga change your life

Facing the prospect of a double knee replacement Marie began a daily yoga practice. That was over 10 years ago. Today as well as a Chartered Psychologist and Somatic therapist she is also a yoga teacher. Decades of not looking after herself with tortuous exercise routines, burning the candle at both ends and wearing stress as a badge of honour literally took her to her knees. Today she knows better. We now have unequivocal evidence of the effect of stress on the nervous system. And it’s not good. A nervous system that is on more than it needs to be leads to chronic inflammation and autoimmune problems as well as exacerbating conditions with anxiety and hormonal components. We can help and prevent these conditions by re-wiring and calming our nervous system. Contrary to conventional wisdom, this begins with the body. Marie will do a short talk about the science of yoga on human wellbeing and in particular nervous system health. This will be a thoughtful and provocative talk, heartfelt after her own hard-won experience. She will answer questions on yoga and how it might help you and then you will be invited to a yoga session focused on re-setting the nervous system.
